Did you know that Epilogue was named something else? It’s gone through massive changes over the past few years that its previous iteration had to be named differently. According to the dictionary, epilogue is a section at the end of a book or play that serves as a comment on or a conclusion to what has happened. The final act. The goodbye, so you’re not left hanging. The part before they close the curtains.
Epilogues have existed in literature for a very long time. Even Shakespeare loved epilogues. One of his most famous epilogues comes from The Tempest, one of the last plays he wrote. It’s even said that Prospero, the main character, actually represents Shakespeare from his monologue in the epilogue alone. But you didn’t hear it from me.
